What is PhotoLust?
So much amazing photography here on deviantART gets lost among the masses of snapshots that get uploaded as Art Photography. There are plenty of people on DA who think photography isn't 'real' art, and their opinions are only cemented by the huge volume of Scrap-fodder they see when they browse through the photography galleries here. PhotoLust is an account made specifically for bringing exposure to amazing ARTISTIC photographers on deviantART. It is NOT a club, so you can't join, but feel free to watch and get involved!

Get involved?
Yes, get involved! You are cordially invited to pimp =PhotoLust in your own journals, signatures, whatever (there will be stamps and graphics for this purpose on the way soon) and absolutely encouraged to suggest photographers and photographs for the journal features here as well as submit your own work for the PhotoLust Thumbs features..

How often is PhotoLust updated?
I will do my level best to update at least every couple of days, or at least twice and week, and of course the amount of updates depends mostly on YOU submitting nominations for features.

If all the art is in the journal, what's the gallery for?
Tutorials, resources etc. If YOU have a tutorial that you think would be useful to photographers of any experience level drop us a note and it shall be submitted (with comments disabled and a request to fav on the original piece of work in your gallery, links provided and credit given). Please put a line in the description stating that you give permission for =PhotoLust to display your tutorial (or whatever it is).

What if I see a photograph in one of the features that the deviant shouldn't have credit for?
While I check the description of every photograph I feature here, there's no way I can know if a photo has been 'borrowed' from elsewhere or if it has been submitted by a model who isn't also the photographer if this information isn't in the description. If you see something like this in one of the journals, please note me and let me know so I can deal with it. But please, be polite - I don't feature ripped or uncredited work on purpose!



FEATURED IMAGES AND ARTISTS

Who chooses the PhotoLust's Choices?
For now, tis moi (`RockstarVanity) who is doing the choosing. Yes, it's all down to me and my little opinions and tastes but you get a say too!

Can I choose artists and images to be featured on PhotoLust?
Yes, you can indeed. Details of how to do this can be found below.

Does PhotoLust only feature unknown artists?
No. PhotoLust features unknown AND established artists, as well as selections from recently submitted deviations and specific galleries.

I have been featured, but I don't want my image(s) to be featured. What can I do?
A note will be sent to anyone who is featured as PhotoLust's Choice, PhotoLust's Unknown or a Suggested Unknown and comments will be left on the images featured in the other sections, so if you're not happy with the situation, simply send a note and your work will be removed.

Are past featured artists and images kept somewhere?
Past PhotoLust's Choice Photographer, Past PhotoLust's Unknown Photographers and You Past Unknown Photographers are all immortalised in link form on their own pages in the journal, as are the past journal entires and news articles.

PhotoLust's Choice Photographer
This is an artist, usually a more established one, who is chosen to have a mini-gallery selection of their work shown to inspire others.

PhotoLust's Unknown Photographer
This is an unknown photographer (less than 10,000 pageviews) selected to have a mini-gallery of their work featured to bring them more exposure.

Your Suggested Unknown Photographer
This is an unknown photographer (less than 10,000 pageviews at the time of suggestion) selected by YOU to have a mini-gallery of their work featured to bring them more exposure.

PhotoLust's Recently Submitted
These are random images that happened to grab my attention in the 'Browse Today's Submissions' section.

Your Suggested Choice Photographs
These are photos that YOU love and suggest to be featured. They can be by unknown artists, established artists, admins, anyone.

PhotoLust's Gallery Spotlight
This is a selection of images from a specific photography gallery. The images are random grabs from recent deviations and are NOT taken from the Top Favourites (although some artists may be established and others unknown, this isn't a factor in choosing these images).

PhotoLust Thumbs
This is the part of PhotoLust where you are encouraged to send in your own work for features, along with a short comment about the type of critique you'd like.



SUGGESTING ARTISTS AND PHOTOGRAPHS FOR FEATURES

How do I suggest and image or artist to be featured?
Please do this in the form of a note, using one of the following subjects.
Suggest Unknown Photographer
or
Suggest Choice Photograph

Can I suggest more than one image or artist?
PLEASE, for the love of all that is pink and fluffy, if you want to suggest an unknown photographer AND a choice photograph (for example), send TWO SEPARATE NOTES! Also, if you want to suggest more than one unknown photographer or choice photography, send EACH IN A SEPARATE NOTE! The reason for this is that notes are filed away in folders so that there's a stash to draw upon for each journal, and once the suggestions have been used, the notes are deleted. Please please please comply with these requests!

How often can I make suggestions?
You can suggest as many photographs and artists as you like, at any time. There is no limit. In fact, you're encouraged to submit lots - make it a regular thing!

Can I suggest my own work?
If you want your own work to be featured, please submit it to PhotoLust Thumbs. Send a note entitled 'Thumbs' with a link to the piece of work you'd like featured and a short comment about the type of critique you're looking for, or the elements of the image that you'd like help with. Please don't abuse the system - only submit one image per note and don't submit more than one per week, thanks.
