PhotoLust is an interactive photography resource for photographers of all ages and skill levels. There's lots of useful stuff in the collections in the favourites gallery and the journal, artists and photographers to be inspired by in the journal features, and you can get involved by submitting your work to the gallery and answering polls (which will also help shape the future of the project). If you have any questions or suggestions, get in touch!
Since July was a submission-theme-free month, August is going to have a theme. If you'd like to help choose the theme, go and vote in THIS POLL. Thanks!
About gallery submissions (and the last poll) - since there really aren't very many submissions at *PhotoLust and the favs gallery is already absolutely heaving with tutorials (in 30-something folders) I'm going to keep submissions in the collective gallery for now.
If I suddenly start getting a bazillion submission notes and it becomes an inconvenience to gallery-submit everything and a pain in the ass to the watchers, this will change. The majority of people suggested putting thumbs in the journal, which is the way things will go if the amount of submissions increases dramatically. Thanks to everyone who shared your opinion in comments on that poll.

Here are some photography contests from around dA for you to enter. If you (or your club or project) is running a contest that you'd like me to feature here, just send a note or vote and comment in this poll. Please don't send notes about ongoing contests (ie if your club runs a contest each week or month) though.
Run by: ^hellfirediva
Ends: 31 July 08
Run by: =TrickedOutTumnus
Ends: 01 September 08
These clubs and projects run regular contests...

Every month, you will be invited to submit your own work to *PhotoLust's gallery. Some months will have submission themes and some will be open submission (no theme) so please keep an eye on the journal so you know what you're submitting to!
Submissions are only open for two weeks(ish) out of every month to give me plenty of time to catch up with all your notes, and are limited to ONE submission per person per month, so please check the dates before you submit anything - help me stay sane!
JULY'S SUBMISSION INFO
Submission dates: NO MORE SUBMISSIONS THIS MONTH!
Submission theme: No theme this month
Submission limit: ONE submission per person only
Additional info: All genres of photography, all skill levels
Please include: A link to your deviation AND keywords
Subject: Please put 'July Submission' as the subject of your note
Anyone can submit to *PhotoLust, but I do ask you to please watch the account before you submit. If all the other watchers will be seeing your submissions in their devwatch, it's only fair that you see theirs too.
If there's anything that you'd like specific critique on, feel free to include in your submission note a short message which I will add to the description of your piece in the gallery. You don't have to do this if you don't want to, but it is a good opportunity to ask for critique.

A selection of stunning photos from the recent submissions.

These are featured because I like the photos and want to share them, and I only look at the deviant who submitted them to check that they aren't club submissions.
PLEASE don't gripe about how many comments, favs, views or DDs any of the pictures of the artists who submitted them have. I don't care. I don't look at that stuff. I'm only interested in the individual images and how fab they are.
If you'd like to suggest an inspirational photo for next month (please ensure that it was submitted recently), send a note. Please don't suggest your own work, thanks!

June's gallery spotlight is on the Abstract & Surreal gallery. The Gallery Director is ^opioid and the gallery description reads
Abstract photographs seek to obscure the actual subject, while surreal photographs places the subject in an other-worldly context.
ABSTRACT: Abstract photographs characteristic of suggested shapes and pronounced colour harmony/dissonance without a distinct form.
SURREAL: Photographs that use extreme imagery to extend the scene beyond realism. This should be achieved with minimal digital editing.
Here's some recent goodness from the gallery.

Or even add a stamp in some corner of the submitted piece saying to go to the original piece or something, so people who are fast viewers realise it's a club piece.
