Everything's up and running now and PhotoLust has been relaunched. I'm keeping this journal anyway, just to show what's changed around here.

So not much has happened on =PhotoLust since January this year, but all of a sudden there's something going on...

=PhotoLust is evolving into something bigger, better and more interactive but it's going to take a while to get everything set up. While I'm working on things, you'll see changes happening in the gallery, favs and collections, the journal, etc and I'll do my best to explain everything as it happens. Here's what's been going on so far.



^{(06 June)} =PhotoLust WILL be open for submissions again soon (but NOT YET!), and this time submissions will go in the gallery rather than as thumbs in journal entries. As this isn't a club so there are no members, submission will be open to absolutely anyone as long as they devwatch =PhotoLust (it's only fair because if you're submitting work for other watchers to see, you should be able to see other people's submissions too). Submission will be open for the first two weeks of every month, to stop an overload of submissions and to allow me time to catch up before the next months starts. Submissions will be limited to one per month, and I'd like you to tell me if you think each month should have a theme for submissions or if submissions should be open (ie without themes). Please go and vote in this poll and tell me what you think!

^{06 June} It has been suggested that a =PhotoLust chat room might be a good idea. I'm not big into chat on dA (not for any bad reasons, it's just not something I've ever had time to get stuck into) and I know there are already bazillions of great photography chat rooms in existence, so I'm not sure if there's any point in opening another one. However, if enough people genuinely want a chat room and will actually use it, I will open one. Please let me know what you want by voting in this poll. And please please please be honest! Running a chat room takes time and effort, so if you really don't think you'll use it, please don't feel you have to say something positive if it's not what you actually mean! I'm as happy not to have a chat room as I am to have one - it's all based on what =PhotoLust's watchers want. So tell me the truth!

^{(01 June)} The Educational news articles and journal entries page is up (you can find it here), containing a list of educational news articles and journal entries from around dA. It has general and subject-specific photography articles and journals, as well as a selection of those relating to dA culture, web stuff and commenting/critique, but no feature or contest news articles, individual interviews, club or gallery updates, or anything relating to time-specific information. The list I've compiled so far is only the beginning (and came from my own searching, so I know there's loads I haven't found yet), so I've started a poll to gather more articles and journals to add to the page.

^{(01 June)} The Where to find photography on dA page is up (you can find it here), containing info about photograph gallery browsing, chat rooms, forums and other stuff. I'm looking for more to add to this, so if you run a photography-related chat room on dAmn, please send me a note with a link and a short description so I can add it to the list.

^{(22 May)} The 'Gallery Directors and suggesting Daily Deviations' page is up, containing a list of all the photography GDs and info about their galleries, as well as info about Daily Deviations and how to suggest them. You can find it here.

^{(21 May)} The photography project and community directory has been started. It's a list of photography-related groups, projects etc on dA and is open for input, so if you run a club that you'd like listed, check out the info on this page then send me a note and I'll add you to the list.

^{(21 May)} If you've been watched it's because I've worked my way through the masses of =PhotoLust's watchers (over 1500 at the last check) and watched everyone back. This is so I can keep track of photography-related news articles that you guys submit (more info on this to come).

^{(18 May)} The favs/collections gallery now houses a bundle of fabulous photography tutorials and resources (I went through the entire photography tutorials section), divided into handy collections to help you find what you're looking for. This library of resources will continue to grow as I hunt down more cool stuff to collect and share.

^{(18 May)} The gallery is empty at the moment (apart from =PhotoLust stamps), but it won't be for long. Watch this space for more information!

^{(18 May)} The journal and everything in it (features etc) is going to change dramatically so while you will be seeing featured photographers and featured photos, it won't be the same as before. There will be more stuff to see, more in-depth information and more things for you to get involved in. In the meantime, please don't send any notes suggesting features etc.



Until everything is set up and ready to go, please don't send any notes suggesting features, submissions to the gallery, information about news articles or tutorials, requests to join (=PhotoLust has never been a club, still isn't and isn't ever going to be), requests for affiliation or questions about what's going on here...all will be revealed in due course!

Any notes that were floating around =PhotoLust's message centre before today have been deleted in the interests of creating a fresh start, but if you were waiting for a reply please don't worry - the up-coming changes will deal with everything and answer all your questions.

~fineart-photography is...a community is to bring together the fine-art-photographers of Deviant Art. There are loads around and we'd like to build a gallery of their best work. EVERYONE who's interested in fine art photography can join! Being a member doesn't automatically mean you have to submit pictures, if you feel your art isn't good enough yet. You'll definitely learn from the experienced members!


~FriendlyPhotography is...a club for photographers who feel either they are not living up to their potential and want some help, or just want a friendly environment to share their artwork. We also hold weekly contests.


*HotBed is...a place where small creatures are born to greatness. So we'd like to base on enviroment whre you do your work, where you live and where you take your photos. We'd just like to have a feeling that what you show on your photography is imporatant for you, and it's connected with you. The photo you submit is important. HotBed is a club that wish to promote photographers and to create community within our members. We'd like to be something more than just anonymous icons on your acoounts.

We especially encourage those just starting to learn macro, or those wishing to start but need a helping hand. ~macrophoto is...a group dedicated to macro photographers. Our mission is to help new photographers learn the art of macro photography and provide critique & encouragement for everyone's work.


=PanoramaClub is...is a friendly, helpful and welcoming club solely aimed at showcasing all those fantastic panoramas dotted around deviantArt. Our aim is to get your panorama looked at by as many people as possible, and to get you, the panorama photographer, noticed.
