Sony DT 16-105 ReviewSony DT 16-105 Review by josephacheng
The Sony DT 16-105 F/3.5-5.6 is one of the first premium kit lenses offered, done in tandem with the Sony A700. Separately, the price varies from place to place: $599.99 in the United States, $487.10 equivalent in Hong Kong, and $752.87 equivalent in Germany. In comparison to the other premium Sony kit lenses for APS-C sensors, it is slightly more expensive than the 18-200 F/3.5-6.3, but cheaper than the 18-250 F/3.5-6.3, and around $120 less than the price of the Carl Zeiss 16-80 F/3.5-4.5.
Concentrating on the lens itself, it gives a good wide range of up to 6.56 times of zoom. The lens turns in the clockwise direction like the majority of the Sony lenses with the focus going clockwise from infinity, also like majority of the Sony lenses.
I've had mine for 17 months and the zoom feels the same like when I first got it. It isn't that stiff, but it doesn't slip down. Photographers using a premium kit lens for the first time will be a bit surprised by the weight being nearly double that
